Sairaj Bahutule to assist Team India ahead of the 1st Test against Sri Lanka in Mohali

Former Indian cricketer Sairaj Bahutule will assist the Indian squad ahead of the 1st Test match against Sri Lanka in Mohali. Bahutule is the bowling coach at the National Cricket Academy at the moment. There were talks that Bahutule might be in contention for the role of spin bowling coach of the senior men’s side. However, a BCCI official put these talks to rest and said that Bahutule has been in Mohali and has already been working with the Test specialists. The official also confirmed that Bahutule will return back to his duties at the NCA.

“Sai has been in Mohali with the Test specialists who had gone there more than a week ago. He has been assisting them in their training while Rahul and others were with the white ball squad. They will be with the side for a couple of more days before going back to the NCA,” said the BCCI official as quoted by Cricbuzz.

Virat Kohli set to play his 100th Test match

The 1st Test match between India and Sri Lanka is a special one for Indian cricket legend Virat Kohli. The 33-year-old icon will feature in his 100th Test match for the Indian side. And, the Secretary of the BCCI, Jay Shah stated that crowds will be allowed inside the stadium to witness Kohli’s 100th Test match, and the decision has been taken by the Punjab Cricket Association. 50% capacity will be allowed at the venue.

“The decision to allow spectators into the ground is one taken by the State Cricketing Associations and in the present circumstances, is based on various factors. I have spoken with the PCA office bearers, and they have confirmed that cricket fans will be able to witness the historic moment of Virat Kohli playing his 100th Test match,” concluded BCCI Secretary Jay Shah.
