Afghanistan captain shares heartwarming video of hospitality in India

The entire Afghanistan team is currently in India, as the side is currently competing in the ongoing ODI World Cup. As the side fights for a spot in the knockout stages of the tournament, Afghanistan skipper Hashmatullah Shahidi took to Instagram to share a video of himself with a taxi driver in India. In the video, Shahidi was captured talking to the driver as he opened up about his experience. The skipper stated that the taxi driver did not take any money from him for the ride and that the entire side was overwhelmed by the love that had been shown them in the country.

“This taxi driver hasn’t charged us for the ride. I’m sure it would have been his half day income. Respect to the guy. It means a lot to us. Overwhelmed by the love, respect and affection people have shown us wherever we go since we have arrived in India,” Hasmatullah Shahidi captioned the post on his Instagram handle.

Afghanistan continue to surprise at ODI World Cup 2023

Talking of Afghanistan’s on-field performances, the side have played four games in the tournament so far. The spirited Afghan side has managed to register two wins against the likes of Pakistan and England. But, they have also succumbed to losses against New Zealand and India. Led by Shahidi, Afghanistan’s latest win came against the Men in Green, Pakistan. Batting first, Pakistan posted a total of 282 runs on the board in the first innings. Aiming to chase down the target, Afghanistan put in one of their most dominant performances with the bat.

Rahmanullah Gurbaz and Ibrahim Zadran opened the innings and gave Afghanistan a solid start with their vital knocks of 65 and 87 runs, respectively. Furthermore, Rahmat Shah scored 77 runs with skipper Hashmatullah Shahidi adding 48 runs to guide Afghanistan to a thumping victory by eight wickets.
