On this day in 2019: England bowl out West Indies for just 45 runs in a T20I
T20 cricket is the format in which teams try to score as fast as they can. This can sometimes lead to a total collapse of the batting team. Among the full member teams, only 1 time has a team been bowled out for a score less than 50.
It happened to West Indies when they were bundled for only 45 runs in a T20I match against England on this day i.e. 8th march in 2019. This was the second T20I of the three-match series played in the West Indies. England had earlier won the first match and were looking to clinch the series.
The hosts won the toss in the clash and invited England to bat first. The visitors had a terrible start as they lost their first 4 wickets for only 32 runs. Sam Billings and Joe Root then stitched an important partnership of 82 runs for the fifth wicket.
Root got out after scoring a well-made half-century. Sam Billings played a wonderful knock of 87 runs off 47 balls with the help of 10 fours and 3 sixes. England posted a score of 182/6 in their 20 overs. Fabien Allen claimed 2 wickets for 29 runs in his 4 overs.
Chasing this total, West Indies were completely outplayed and never looked in control of the chase. The whole team was dismissed for only 45 runs in 11.5 overs. Only 2 of their players could cross the 10-run mark. This is still the lowest total for a full member team in T20Is.

Chris Jordan displayed exceptional skills with the ball as he picked 4 wickets in only 2 overs by giving away just 6 runs. David Willey, Adil Rashid and Liam Plunkett picked 2-wickets each for the visitors in the match.
England won this match by a big margin of 137 runs thus winning the series as well. This is the biggest victory margin for the English team to date in terms of runs. The visitors went on to win the third match of the series as well thus claiming the series by 3-0.
