Here are all of Virat Kohli’s tattoos and their meaning

Since breaking into the national side, Virat Kohli’s career has witnessed an exemplary rise. The current India skipper not only revolutionized fitness in the sport but achieved unprecedented milestones with his batting heroics.

Kohli undoubtedly is regarded as a modern-day great, being in the top batsmen list across all three formats. Over the years, the prolific run-scorer has created a huge brand value. Along with his batting exploits, he often catches eyeballs with his fashion sense, hairstyles and tattoos.

In the modern era, the sight of a cricketer flaunting several tattoos has become a common sight. Kohli also apparently has 11 tattoos on his body. To start off, Kohli flaunts a ‘God’s eye’ tattoo on his left shoulder. The tattoo highlights that everything happening in the world is being watched, denoting that one is keeping count on your deeds.

On Kohli’s left arm, a Japanese Samurai has been tattooed. Samurais, for many decades, have been recognized for their discipline, valour and strength. The tattoo rightly represents the heroics which Kohli pulls off while being on the field.

Representing the national side certainly is a ‘dream-come-true’ moment for any player. Kohli also has 175- his ODI cap number and 269- his Test cap number tattooed on his left hand. “These numbers will always remain with me because when you look back at the charts 200 years from now,” the India skipper had said about the significance of both the tattoos.

Kohli’s parents have also played a key role in shaping his cricketing journey. On his left arm, the cricketer has tattooed his mother’s name Saroj. He also has his father’s name Prem inscribed on his left arm. Kohli was 18 when his father left him. He had surprised everyone after coming to bat the next day and saved Delhi from a follow-on.

Kohli is also a worshipper of Lord Shiva. On his left arm, he also has a tattoo of Shiva meditating on Mount Kailash. To signify peace, Kohli’s left shoulder has a tattoo of a Monastery. ‘Om’, the symbol of spiritualism is also inscribed on his shoulder. The Om holds a significant place in Hinduism. The sound of Om is considered as the first echo when the universe originated.

Zodiac signs also hold importance in the lives of many people. A person’s behaviour and traits are often reflected through his Zodiac sign. Kohli also has his Zodiac sign Scorpio tattooed on his right bicep. The Scorpio tattoo has been captured many times when Kohli is on the field. The last but not the least is the tribal tattoo which Kohli possesses. It indicates aggression and was one of the first tattoos which ‘Captain Kohli’ got. Till date, Kohli has 11 tattoos on his body and the number is expected to notch up with the passage of time.
