Harbhajan Singh reveals Shane Watson’s heroic effort in the IPL final

Chennai Super Kings off-spinner Harbhajan Singh has revealed the heroic feat of Australian all-rounder Shane Watson in the final of IPL 2019. Watson batted through the pain barrier in the final with a bloodied knee, yet managed to almost take his side to a victory with a brilliant 80.

Harbhajan revealed that Watson received six stitches on his leg after the match. The injury occurred while he dived to try and avoid a run-out and save his wicket.

Bhajji wrote on his Instagram story with a picture of Watson’s bloodied knee:

“Can you guys see the blood on his knee.. He got 6 stitches after the game..Got injured while diving but continue to bat without telling anyone. That’s our @srwatson33. Almost pulled it for us last night.”

The official Twitter account of Chennai Super Kings also praised Watson for his valiant effort, tweeting:

Watson was CSK’s top scorer in the final with his knock of 80 runs off only 59 deliveries. CSK were set a target of 150 runs to chase by MI, but fell short by only 1-run in a nail-biting encounter. The Australian failed to get his side over the line as he got run out in the final over of the match.
